Brian Greene says he's known his friend for a quarter century. He met him in the mid-90s when they were both teaching evolutionary biology at Tony Brook University, Tennessee. In that same period of time, Brian went through a "midlife crisis" and started studying philosophy again. The result has been an interesting look at how people have dealt with life over two millennia.
