How Do You Evaluate a Piece of Art?

Critics don't seem to understand that they are trying to make their personal, subjective experience and taste into a truth, a science. Some people will like it, some people won't. But there is an objective component. And somebody who just comes in without having really studied as a discipline isn't going to produce a good piece of work.
