Patrick Waugh: I think it has to involve changes in tax. He says we need like a benevolent AI leadership to quote unquote force that redistribution to us because if I think of the most optimistic techno socialist view it's probably Ian Banks culture series which is a big inspiration for Elon Musk. The Star Trek world is another interesting example of kind of a post-scarcity world, he adds. But there are still insider outsider issues there right and those divisions are also often drawn along species lines so you know even in those worlds we find it difficult to imagine getting beyond species racism or interspecies war.
