Kinley: There are reasons for optimism. A number of nigerian alits and politicians do have a stake in preserving the system. But i think what's become clear is that your countries that may seem permanent and solid really can fall apart, particuarly if the bonds between citizen and state disintegrate. And those bonds in Nigeria look shakier than at any time since the civil war.
