Most people who sit down to write a novel already have a strong sense of what kind of drama can happen because they're readers. So that now, when we come to the scene that we were talking about, it's been beefed up by previous scenes. And you can even throw in other, i guess you could throw in other aspects of the arc of the hero like, for instance, the guy asking to grow out on tha date. Maybe he has compatriots who are encouraging him, but then other people are saying, no, you're a loser. He's dealing with conflict along the way, bigger and bigger perhaps, until he finally asks her. The one i always remember is
