The story I would like to get to is much bigger than the UK. How do we get to this place as a global attitude towards asylum seekers that in no way even comes close to trying to address the real, very real problems we have? The idea has been was ruled out as recently as last year by the home office because according to Bloomberg, it would end up being even more expensive than housing in hotels. And so when you choose to make a point of discussing small boats or asylum seekers or general public anxiety around those issues, we're going to focus on something else. That's where the real numbers are, how that gets to dominate the headlines and the running orders of the media.
