A Vitus's Death and the Death of Marcian

In october four 56, avitus was officially deposed by majorian and placed under house arrest. He was forced to renounce his titles and property and agree to become the bishop of piacenza - a curious form of punishment but one that removed avetus from the political picture. It isn't entirely clear why richamer and majorian decided to leave avitus alive, but it may have had something to do with currying favor with the eastern emperor marcian. But in january of four 57, marcian died, and shortly thereafter, Avitus was killed. His passing marks the official end of the theod dynasty and the extended valentinian theodos
