The Story of George Dramus

George Dramus was sent to a special signal battalion in Mississippi. He joined the 23rd Headquarters Group, the Ghost Army. The men of the 23rd were sent to Britain for further training. Just after D-Day they were sent on to France to begin their work in the field. We floated in the channel for about a week. I'd get in the shot up at night. Germans would go over and drop these parachutes with lights on them,. magnesium flares. They would light up like daylight and they would bomb some ships. A lot of shrapnel fly out. Generally dry day on Wednesday.
