How to File a Custody Action in Georgia
The proper jurisdiction for a custody arrangement is where the child has been residing for the past six months. Georgia is one of the, I think the only state that has a statute where a 14 year old can elect to live with whom they want to. So if you're down here in Georgia, there's nothing you can do about you can't file down here. And then and the interesting thing there is if an action is brought here initially, as long as you stay in Georgia, after that, any future modifications or custody actions would need to be brought here in Georgia.
