The State of General Practice in Scotland
There are 90 fewer practices in Scotland than there were a decade ago. The numbers of patients per GP has also skyrocketed over that period. We've reached what the BMA Scotland is calling a sustainability crisis. An increasing number of practices are being forced to close their lists because they simply can't absorb any more work. In England, the number of GP partners is falling at a much faster rate than the overall GP workforce.
