How to Treat a Sickle Cell Patient With Eye Trauma

In patients who have sickle cell disease it's really important that you avoid using acetazolamide. Rebleeding actually carries more morbidity as well and will cause issues with corneal staining in the long run. There is reasonable evidence to show that TXA does decrease the rate of re-bleed with hyphema. The particular study that I'm talking about here didn't unfortunately find a change in terms of visual acuity in the longrun with no TXA. They may have seen consequences with that, but it does seem to decrease the rateof re-bleeds which is not a thing for hyphema at all.
