Introduction

There's a distinction that psychologists talk about and I think some of them hate this language but it's been cold cognition and hot cognition. A lot of the book that we've been talking about involving development and language and perception and memory, those are the cold computational stuff. This is now getting us into the hot stuff - desires wants, needs, motivations, is hunger and sex and a desire to do good in the world. It's what impels us.
