No one in Trump's current polling position in the modern era has lost an open presidential primary that didn't feature an incumbent. A New York Times, Sienna College poll shows that if the only two choices in the primary were Trump or DeSantis right now, Trump would win 62 to 31. When asked who is more likable, 45% of Republican voters actually say DeSantis compared to 43% of GOP voters who say Trump. They think that Trump is able to beat Joe Biden, 58 to 32 to 28. So again, a lot of this is affect. A lot ofthis is the imagining of a 2024 race in which Donald Trump is throwing the kitchen sink at it.
