A paradox is an apparent contradiction. In the logical mind momentarily comes to an impasse, so you can't proceed in the face of the contradiction. And then being sitting patiently in the impasse, the mind breaks to and to a qualitatively richer way to understand the question itself. So I think that's the role of paradox. A metaphorical language is a language, I like Eugene Peterson, Pastor Eugene Peterson, and he's speaking of the prophets, as poets and metaphor. He says a metaphor, it says what it means and it doesn't say what it means. Therefore it sets in motion the spiritual imagination and engages you in it. See, we can't get this vastness
