The Evolution of Marburg Virus
Since the first outbreak in 1967, there have been approximately 474 cases of Marburg virus. So I think that suggests that the mutation rate in general for Marburg virus is pretty low. Some papers put the origin of phylloviruses at 10,000 years or so ago,. Others say that it's more like millions of years since phyllovirus-like elements were found incorporated into mammalian genomes.
