I Won't Tolerate a Husband of Mine Sacrificing the Art of Conversation

When we first see the way Henry's wife Helen, she's now been renamed Helen from Agnes as she was in the short story. So when we first see Helen speak to him, we immediately think of her as the bad one. All Henry wants to do is read, and at the end of the day, what's wrong with that? It's considered a healthy pastime by pretty much everybody. But you know, you do have to wonder what came first. He did, Henry just marry a domineering wife. Or when the honeymoon period of their relationship was over, did he just bury himself so much in books that he's neglected her  to such a degree
