The Origins of Libertalia in Madagascar

There was a pirate settlement called Ambednavola founded in 1703. And it seems to have been founded by the children of pirates and the pirates Malagasy wives. They had someone who claimed to be a king, who was the son of a pirate, but he seemingly didn't actually act as a king. But that isn't the non-existence of libertalia doesn't change the reality that pirates did indeed experiment with new forms of governance and property arrangements.
