The Higher Your Marital Satisfaction

There are all these surveys showing that the fewer partners you've had, the higher your marital satisfaction. Do you think even if you control for that is it still the case that fewer partners seems to result in better satisfaction? And I think that's also religious but marital satisfaction, it also has to do with the people you surround yourself with.
