Introduction
Tim D'Gortnesh: I lived behind the Berlin Wall in East Berlin. The shtazi compiled a file on me, which became the subject of one of my books. He chronicles the liberation of Eastern Europe from the late 1970s to 1989. And then the reunification of Europe comes after the great enlargement of the EU in 2004. It's important to remember what an amazing achievement this has been.
