How Do You Go About Your Keyword Research?

Initially, it was the new content because previous to that, I was just writing about whatever I wanted to. From what I first understood SEO, it was more so the new post that I had created moving forward. However, now I would say I'll go back and update at least two posts a week from my main site to update them for better search engine optimization.
