The War in Ukraine

A lot of the reason this book was so popular obviously is the war in Ukraine. I wrote it with the idea of focusing on the mythologies that have structured the Russians understanding of their own history. In other words, by setting up that conflict over a statue, I was trying to address the issues that it seemed to me even before the war were leading us towards war.
