At least forty three people were killed in detroit, 33 of them black and ten white. More than thirt n hundred buildings were also burned down during those six days in detroit. Fire fighters had to withdraw repeatedly as they were attacked or caught in cross fire or pinned down by snipers while trying to fight the fires. About five thousand detroit residents were left homeless.
