The Risk of Initiating Change
I think we have to really have compassion for the fact that change is frightening. Jung would say, any deep psychological soul changes, an opus contra naturum,. It's a great work against nature. So by nature, we kind of want to stay fixated on what's familiar and known and controllable. But what happens is that change keeps insinuating itself on us. Depressions come, addictions happen, divorces occur; children get sick and die. These things throw us to the periphery, to the margins. And that's where we encounter what is most vital and most alive.
