John Vaney's Penance
John Vaney lived a life of austere penance. He was tortured by the devil at night because he only slept one or two hours a night. A priest nearby got jealous of his success and started a petition to stop him from becoming a priest. The bishop did not want that, but 300 priests came to celebrate John Vaney's funeral.
