The Importance of Meditation in the Gospel
In 1559, Teresa of Avila was told by the church to get rid of her forbidden books. She had been reading De Jimiento and Reco Jimiento in "troubled times," she says. The nuns were accused of being an alumbrado or a follower of Protestantism. After getting rid of these books, Theresa went on to establish 17 new convents around Spain.
