Case 248: Abraham Shakespeare

Casefile True Crime

CHAPTER

The Trial of Abraham Shakespeare

Abraham Shakespeare won $250,000 in the lottery. Michael Ford claimed he lent Abraham money to help put food on his table. After five days of testimony and a little over an hour's deliberation, the jury unanimously agreed that Abraham Shakespeare did not steal the lottery tickets from Michael Ford. Michael rejected the jury's findings and began a lengthy appeals process. The final hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2009, two and a half years after Abraham won the lottery. But Abraham wasn't around to hear the good news.
