The Viral Cycle of Trauma

There's a big part of this film that covers so many different themes and we could kind of focus on each one in a much bigger way, but yet it's kind of intergenerational trauma. Evelyn had that from her dad because there's a bit where she's born and the first thing they say is, oh, I'm sorry, it's a girl. That kind of narrative of disappointment that your life is a disappointment because of your gender is then kind of passed down almost to, from Evelyn, then to joy. So it's almost like that really vicious cycle of trauma.
