What You Learned by Working in a Text Editor

Hang out in a system for a really long time can help you understand things about that system. What's something that you learned by spending a lot of time in a particular system? I guess there's two systems that come to mind, but the one that i'll talk about first is this text editor, acme, that i used for actually an entire summer.
