The King of Two Peoples
The ment in the southern provinces slowly built into the late 18 twenties, and it manifested along two parallel tracts. The liberals were less concerned about protecting the privileges of the church or clinging to old ways of life. But they were deeply offended by the disenfranchisement of southern interests. Only in the wildest dreams of a few radicals was outright secession even considered as a realistic objective. Many actually sought re annexation back into france.
