Adoption in the united states is a billion dollar business. Adoptive parents often wonder if they love their adopted children unconditionally or on some level as a conditional relationship. Many agencies say things like, your biological parents loved you so much they gave you away. The reductio ad absurdum of that messaging is that adopti now understands love is relinquishment.
