PCH's Deceptive Practices
The Deceptive Mail Prevention and Enforcement Act, also known as the Sweepstakes Law, was passed. Colorado received a $3.5 million settlement after seeing no noticeable change in their business model. PCH really needed to pivot and fast in the late 1990s when subscriptions were taking a massive hit. The company has been successful at reorienting themselves toward something people don't expect.
