How Do You Evaluate Motivations?
I ignore stated motivations. I think they're often sincere, but still a kind of b s. Motivations, to me, are always opaque, even in the evaluators. It's a real problem, i think, in societies that are not fundamentally healthy. If you were considering investing in someone in modern day russia, and you were quite impressed with them, how would you feel about it? You'd be torn. But if they're from denmark, you don't have that same conflict.
