The Power of an Executive
Without Washington, I think it might be safe to say that the constitution might not have survived. The very fact that Washington himself had been at the helm of the convention was its single greatest endorsement. And the constitutional government that comes out of that is, obviously, the words are given by others, but the authority at this point is given by Washington.
