For patriotism, in my view, it just means that you love a community. There's nothing wrong with loving your family more deeply than you love a stranger. A love of a nation doesn't mean that you can't be critical of the nation. We 100% agree on that and I've made the case for patriotism in my two last books.

Congressman Ro Khanna is an American politician, lawyer, and academic. He is currently serving as U.S. Representative for California's 17th district, including much of Silicon Valley.
