Is There Hope in Most Western Democracies?
I'm not convinced by that because it seems to me the culture wars and these other trends are so big and profound. The sort of solutions you're talking about may not be sufficient or workable. I don't think the culture wars are as acute here as they are in the United States. So there is hope in most Western democracies that you can keep a broadcasting and political consensus in civilised bounds. Have you ever been involved with regulators in the UK? I used to try to have as little to do with regulators as possible.
