This is an interesting article for a number of reasons, and I think it's worthwhile extracting a citation from the article directly because it's phrased quite well. The authors state, there was no incidence of aspiration in the present meta-analysis. There are greater than 8,000 parturians with only one reported aspiration event. It was surprising to me anyway to see such a low incidence of adverse events when you consider the total rarity of its use for fear of those very same events in our practice.
