The Orphic Myths
There were long hexameter poems that circulated under the name of Orpheus, sometimes referred to in our authors as the rhapsodic Theogony. This was not a text, but a number of related texts, which Martin West has attempted to arrange in a kind of family lineage. Both Homer and Hesiod are direct descendants of Orpheus; he played an important role in later Platonist tradition. If you see the term Theologos, without any name given in a Platonist text, you can assume it's Orpheus, who is meant.
