The Importance of Academic Freedom
Bob Greene: We have a need to protect the reputation of our universities and I think it begins with defining what is academic freedom in making sure we have to do all these required courses. He says he had a great discussion with the founders of sub-stack regarding censorship and why do they have anyone who wants to write sub-stack essays or newsletters? Greene: It's clearly a little bit of a warning bell when your only qualifications you have a Nobel Prize and something completely different doesn't automatically give you the right to make pronouncements especially as time goes on.
