Karen is told by Whistler that she has to get out of town because the vampires are on the hunt for her. She tries to go to the police, but nope, "vampires own the police apparently" There's a really funny scene with oodokier and frost where he slaps Frost in the face. The humans who have glyphs on their necks are vampire familiar - they belong to a particular vampire.
