The multi-touch interface turns out to be a terrific example of the history of innovation, simultaneous discovery. A mix of new ideas or technologies or scientific breakthroughs coalesce and all of a sudden, there's a whole cohort of people chasing the same idea. While Hahn was working on his prototype, Fingerworks that was also experimenting with multi-touch systems had been quietly acquired by Apple.
