The Effects of Gender Preference on Voters

Voters perceive male candidates to be better at handling crime, foreign affairs and female candidates as being better at helping the poor. There is also an overall tendency for american women to vote uh for democrats much more than republicans and conversely for males to vote republican disproportionately now if we look at surveys that have explicitly asked candidates about a gender preference there does seem to be a bias for females to vote for female candidates and males to vote for male candidates but it's a relatively small effect.
