The Limits of Computational Reducibility
Stephen Wolfram's new fundamental physics has a picture of how things work that I think is pretty helpful. He calls these slices of computational reducibility. So, we are particular as human beings, we are a particular kind of observers and we see things at a particular scale. But most of the universe is computationally irreducible. It just depends on certain kinds of observers in certain locations as to how they see things.
