Is It Really 300 Days a Year in Medieval England?
In a 1991 book, Julia Chorra claimed that medieval peasants worked 150 days a year. She cited work by Gregory Clark, an economic historian and medievalist at the University of California Davis. He now thinks they would have worked closer to 300 days a year in medieval England. John Sutter: There simply isn't a great historical record for a group of people who were almost all illiterate.
