The history of china is about as ancient as it comes. There's evidence of neolithic groups cultivating rice and establishing settlements along the yellow river and yankee river at least seven thousand years ago. The first proper cities in china started appearing during that country's bronze age, around two thousand b c. Now one of the most fascinating things about china is that a chinese identity seems to have existed in that part of the world for almost as long as large scale settlements have existed there.
