Optical Mechanical Theory of General Relativity
I was thinking about what's called the parameterized post Newtonian framework, which is just a way to compare different theories of gravity. And it seems to me that you're trying to get a more, let's call it visceral idea about what's going on in gravity rather than just mathematical representation. Yours is not really a metric theory, although at least one of your references is trying to put a metric on something similar. Evans James Evans is one of the front people on this optical mechanical theory of general relativity.
