Professor Alan Jacobs' essay in Harper's Magazine is an example of the fact that a written essay can still almost immediately become a catalyst for conversation. It's going to be interesting to see if the non-Christian world, that is the larger secular world, enters into this conversation at all. I do think there was a certain self marginalizing by evangelicals and traditional Catholics also, but for almost the opposite reasons. You've got to be free to be able to speak out of genuine Christian conviction or else, what's the point of you?
