Obedience to the Law Is the Wisdom of the People
i want to highlight verse six, where he says, keep them and do them. For that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples. And i'm sort of emphasizing words like wisdom and understanding and wise and understanding. I would argue that if you actually read the wisdom literature, it's everywhere advocating obedience to the law as wisdom. It helps us think about the law of deuteronomy. These aren't kind of dry, dusty documents of, you know, merely case law for civil s. The law is teaching the people of god how to live in the world that god created. His teaching them how to live according to the grain of the world.
