The Importance of Respect

I was born July 2nd, 1951, in a taxi cab and the old Lincoln Hospital parking lot. My grandmother used to come home and cry me all just stuff. At that age, it was easy to make money. I don't know how many times my grandmother had to come and bail me out of jail. The community is always embarrassed by drag cream. Straight society always looks, oh, well, a faggot always dresses in drag or sees to be permanent. You got to be who you are. Passing is like saying a light skin, black woman or black male passing for white. And I refuse to pass.
