The Vampire's Pocket Knife

As the vampire lay satiated on the floor I turned my attention toward a fallen from Nigel's hand when he had been dragged out of the bed. It was his pocket knife. I had no idea what a small knife like that would do against a creature that seemed far stronger and faster than me. But I didn't see any option other than to try. The fire spread quickly over its repulsive form though it did slow somewhat where the clothing or flesh was still moist with blood. Its tongue retracted back into its throat still dripping blood onto the now pale corpse of my brother and it lay back upon the floor apparently contented.
