Antiphon the Sophist

The Sophists were younger contemporaries of Protagoras and Gorgias. The most famous was Hippious, who lived from around 460 to 400 BC. He stressed self-sufficiency as a binding principle in his teachings. Antiphon's On Truth appears to anticipate the natural rights doctrine of John Locke.
